Tricia began employment with the Allegany County Health Department in the Addictions Unit back in March 2009. She moved on to Nutrition Services in December 2010 as part of the WIC Program. From her time as a trainee, Tricia has shown compassion in working with WIC participants to address their many needs. Her coworkers recognize her as an “excellent certifier who always places participants first.” They also say she is professional and polite, and handles appointments with confidence and patience.
Since joining the WIC team, Tricia has grown in her responsibilities and job duties. Early on, she became very interested in learning more about WIC services, especially in the area of vendor relations. She started by assisting with cashier trainings then added vendor monitoring visits. Over time, Tricia has taken on full duties as vendor liaison. This includes addressing all aspects of vendor and cashier training, monitoring and reauthorization visits, quarterly reporting, and resolution of vendor and customer complaints. During the past year, Tricia also participated in a statewide committee related to the WIC foods list.
Currently, Allegany WIC is in transition as a pilot agency for electronic benefits. By becoming a super user, Tricia continues to be a helpful presence during this time of change. In addition to fielding calls about various vendor APL issues, she also provides helpful instruction to WIC families and assistance to her colleagues.
Tricia also shares her creative talents in designing bulletin board messaging related to current WIC nutrition education topics. These boards always provide good tips, hints, and useful information. They help to brighten up the waiting area, making it a welcoming place for WIC families.
For these and other reasons, Allegany WIC is proud to have Tricia Evix as part of the team. Congratulations to our April 2017 Allegany County Health Department Employee of the Month!
